House Under Construction

I love getting original and fun requests and this one was one of them! I made this cake last week for my brother-in-law's birthday. My sister and her husband requested a cake of a house being framed and a little figure working on the house. This one was so fitting as this is his profession. It was a vanilla cake with banana buttercream filling. Sorry, again, for the poor pictures, I ran out of time to take some better ones.

TV Cake

This is my latest cake that I created for my husband's birthday this past weekend. We thought this cake would be perfect and so reminiscent of the old tv he had when we first met. So, here it is...

Tissue paper pom poms have been popping everywhere in party and room decor and are a great way to add color to a room. Why buy these lovely pom poms premade when you can easily make these in your own home and are more economical!

Supplies Needed

24-gauge white cloth-covered floral wire.

8 sheets of tissue paper (this will make one tissue paper pom pom)

ruler

scissors

pencil

ribbon or clear thread for hanging pom pom

Directions

1. Stack eight sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.

3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

4. Tie a length of ribbon or clear thread to floral wire for hanging.

Orthodontist Mold Cake

Hello there! Today I thought I would share with you my latest cake. I was given a fun request to make a tooth mold with braces. The pictures aren't that great, maybe one day I can splurge on a great camera..my little wish. :)

Easter Egg Hunt

Last Sunday we threw an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. It was such a blast to plan AND put together on party day! It is so touching to see the smiles on their little faces and even recieve a special thanks!

I used the TomKat Easter Printable Collection for all the labelling and used the drink flag printable from the collection to cover the chocolate bunnies.

I spotted this bunny cake online and knew I had to make one for the party. You can find the directions here. The bunny ears were made out of gumpaste and allowed them to dry a few days before the party.

The easter tree was made from branches we found on a field trip out in the country. The easter egg decorations were found at a local dollar store as were the bunnies, little wooden crate, the little birds and nest.

I made the sugar cookies and covered them with fondant. The 'egg nest' coconut macaroons were made from a recipe I found at No Fuss Fabulous.
